If you think about traditional learning in the classroom on one end of the spectrum and distance online learning on the other then blended learning is somewhere in the middle.
So what if we could create an environment where:
- Number one Students can get individualised instruction.
- Number two Teachers can provide small instructions based upon daily data.
- Number three School can operate at a much lower cost per pupil; this will allow them to reallocate resources.
A person sits in class either lost or bored and you feel sorry for the teacher that he or she has to give lectures to these blank faces. Students are disengaged in lecture style instruction. We all know that small group instruction, guided practice and query based teaching all lead to a better education as well as understanding of concepts. Unfortunately differentiation and feedback does not scale without technology. So blended learning is about leveraging digital content, provide students with skills and practice. Meanwhile, the teacher ensures detent application of content and higher order thinking skills.
