Blatant In-Your-Face Extremism
By Dan Harkey
Some political machines practice outright belligerent lying, propagandizing, and gaslighting as an ordinary routine. The assumption is that the American public is too conditioned and indoctrinated to know the difference.
Repeat a lie enough, and the masses will believe it is true. ?The “illusion of truth” was attributed to Nazi Joseph Goebbels (German politician and chief propagandist for the Nazi Party). Of course, the psychological manipulation technique used today is nothing new, particularly during election cycles.
In the U.S., sophisticated marketing and manipulation techniques, such as the use of celebrity endorsements or emotional appeals in advertising, designed to control the masses (commoners), are nothing new.
Accurate facts and truth are not reserved for the political elites. It's important to remember that we, the commoners, have the power to seek the truth. We know the illusionary (pretend) facts and untruths disseminated widely to the masses. By being critical and discerning, we can counter this manipulation. This truth can set us free from the bondage intended.
Who started the use of institutionalized propaganda and false narratives? Around 1923, an influential figure, Edward Bernays, became national prominence. He pioneered a new field called public relations and wrote numerous books, including Propaganda, Crystallizing Public Opinion, and Engineering Consent. Bernays described how intelligent minorities (invisible governing elites and corporatists) could control or influence the unsophisticated majority (the masses).
Bernays used social constructs that appealed to emotions and subliminal sexual suggestions through advertising campaigns. His uncle was an Austrian neurologist and psychoanalyst, and Sigmond Freud and Bernays used his theories to form his strategies to affect people. Freud suggested that the influence of human behavior is controlled by unconscious memories, thoughts, and urges, usually sexual. Companies and governments that hired Bernays were immediately successful in using Freudian techniques. However, it's crucial to remember that all manipulation, no matter how historically practiced, is inherently deceptive.

The commoners are now fully aware of these extremist methods, and it's our responsibility to remain vigilant. Phrases like 'The New Way Forward' and all the lost promises are just empty platitudes.? When platitudes are spewed out so eloquently, it's often a disguise for the 'Wrong Way Forward.'
