BLAKE’S BUS STORIES CORNER
ANTHONY CHARLES BLAKE, GRT NEPH TO FAMOUS ENTERTAINER-PRODUCER

Fumes to savor and the sound of a vintage bus engine. The memory and ride through my own bus experience. It was a 1947 GM PD-3751 known as the SILVERSIDES. It was back in 1960 being our chartered bus was a Silversides put together by my Godmother, Laura Colemen. At glance, it resembled a Trailways version in Red, Tan and Silver all around the bus. However, it wasn’t a Trailways at all. There were no visible company markings. One would think the Silversides was a Trailways bus. Yet, it was welcomed on the highway our journey to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country in Lancaster, Pa. Explored and embraced in the quaint old shops on a nice spring day. Having lunch and enjoying at that time SHOE FLY PIE. What a day for a bus trip. My Grandmother and I were together on this journey. My encounter will always be on that Silversides with distinction and vintage interior and exterior. There was no restroom aboard. As an added note, I have a nameplate on the 1947 Greyhound GM PD-3751 SILVERSIDES at the GREYHOUND BUS MUSEUM in Hibbing, Minnesota. My heart has joy being given the opportunity in that ride back into bus yesteryear into today with a vintage thought of movement from bus time capsule Silversides. You captured my soul being long remembered.
