Position Available: Blair Academy announces an opening for a chemistry teacher.  We are searching for an enthusiastic, student-centered, and collegial teacher who will share in the responsibility of ensuring that our teaching of chemistry at Blair is inquiry-based, appropriately challenging and cohesive with the other science classes in our sequence. 

The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications:

• A love for the subject of Chemistry and drive to inspire that passion in students;
• Interest in lab-based, inquiry driven, hands-on and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching chemistry;
• An interest in teaching students of all levels, from the introductory level through AP;
• An advanced degree in chemistry or a related field, or an M.Ed. with a B.A./B.S. in chemistry;
• A strong commitment to collaborating with colleagues to create curricular materials;
• A versatile background in science with the ability to teach other subjects if needed.

Typical job responsibilities include:

• Teaching 4 sections each semester
• Coaching or assisting with a sport for 2 seasons or with activities for 3 seasons
• Advising a group of 6 to 8 students
• Providing weekly supervision for boarding students
