Blacks in Portraits
I published my first book in 2019 and I became an author. Prior to that, I was a published illustrator for a few books but I wanted to understand the other parts of it. Then started my journey of learning how to publish.
Since then, I've learned a great deal with every book that was published. That was the intention. I wrote a children's book, created a coloring book during lockdown and I even helped compiled a book completely generated by AI in one day.
At first, I just really wanted to learn Adobe InDesign by making something useful. It was the app that I was least familiar with because of my day-to-day. I barely touched it.
After 3 volumes, I brought myself into the work. I did a great collaboration with book 2. I had to revise the cover for book 1.
One of the most important things I learned was to have a great editor. I also learned not to be hard on myself because, guess what: Even my own amazing copywriting friends hadn't even published a book and I'm a writer!
Now, there comes a time where your passions can evolve into more. They can become more important or necessary. I believe this project is so I went through a rebranding (actually inspired after doing this exercise for a client—getting their logo created).
Decided to rework mine (even if it's never a good idea to have myself as a client). Here's the refresh of Blacks in Portraits:
