I told a manager that I was not interested in getting promoted in the corporate ladder.

I had already promoted myself to CEO.

She looked SHOCKED.

I was already leading DEI in Fortune 500 and nonprofits.

How much further could I go beyond CEO of my own company?

Black women are the brand.

It doesn’t matter who you’re working with or for—you are the brand.

Your name, your presence, your expertise, your value.

That’s why the “EX” isn’t needed on profiles; it diminishes what we’ve been building long before a job title came into play and after.

Your value doesn’t end when a position does.??

LaTonya Davis I love the reminder that regardless of our role and title, we are the BRAND, we bring ingenuity, innovation and grace to doing everything so what's in a title....to paraphrase, a ?? by any other name is still a ??. The CEO of whatever is who and what we are , might as well own it!
