Unless you live on Mars (that's another subject), you've probably heard about this epic movie: Black Panther. Based on a character from Marvel comic books, the updated big screen edition is taking the world by storm. Forget the box office - actually it did great at the box office this Presidents Day holiday weekend.

The real story is the cultural phenomena that is Black Panther. Not since the Star Wars franchise has so many embraced an epic film in drooves. Why? What's the so what of this movie?
First, it is directed by an African-American and has an all-but- a few non-African cast members. Judging from the history of how Hollywood streotypes African creatives, it is an achievement all to itself that the accolades are pouring with such statements as:
"A Record at the Box-Office!"
and .....
"Dispels the notion that a mostly African-American directed movie and cast members are not bankable in Hollywood."
...... and so forth.
Second, this is probably the one time the continent of Africa has been placed in a "positive" light, thanks to the storyline. Remember The Lion King? Well, Black Panther almost got away with crafting an epic African story but the difference here is the real on-screen ACTION.
Third, the pride of seeing all these Africans wearing traditional attire to the movie is something, as an African myself, I will never forget.
So, go ahead, see the movie.
If you don't have a #Dashiki get one here. If you plan to go see this movie, don't get caught short without one! It's the fashionable way to get in with the cultural phenomena that is #BlankPantherMovie

6 年Black Panther was an awesome movie, and I do not feel that it will be a one-hit wonder. It should be a new trend in Hollywood .
