Just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know I'm here in L.A. to celebrate 10 years of Black Lives Matter movement work.
Thank you to the three Black women founders,?Alicia Garza,?Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors who?started the movement out of frustration over George Zimmerman's acquittal in the killing of Trayvon Martin.
Thank you to those who have continued to keep moving this crucial work forward. This has been and continues to be a matter of life or death.
I'm grateful to have comrades who recognize the importance of grassroots organizing tools like coalition building and power mapping. I'm here for all of it and I use it in my DEI work daily!?If you want training for you or your team on social justice (inclusive of coalition building and power mapping training) reply to this email.?I'd love to have you join us in the fight for the freedom and liberation of all people.
The work I do in DEI is directly connected to social justice work. The Black Lives Matter Movement, much like the Civil Rights Movement did for my cousin Mamie, has fueled my DEI work.
This weekend we will be reflecting, honoring?Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, and healing?together collectively. I plan to go live this weekend so join me on my social platforms.
