As part of our ongoing Black History Month collaboration shining a light on impactful Black stories, Peer Power Foundation Program Director Jalen Washington selected Frederick Douglass's influential novella "The Heroic Slave." ?

For Jalen, the character underscores the perseverant pursuit of freedom and human dignity despite oppression.
