Black History Month?
Black History Month has begun in the UK. The theme for 2024 is "Reclaiming Narratives" , with organisers hoping to recognise and correct "the narratives of Black history and culture". This week, we'd like to hear from you about what that theme means to you.?
Share your thoughts in a post using the hashtag #BlackHistoryMonth and #LinkedInNewsUK: What does this year's Black History Month theme, "Reclaiming Narratives", mean to you?
Staying ahead in the workplace
New research from LinkedIn shows that 56% of UK professionals feel overwhelmed by how quickly their job is changing, and this is especially true for younger workers (70% of 25-34 year olds). The rise of AI, hybrid or remote working set-ups and a multi-generational workforce have all contributed to people feeling anxious about being left behind.
Half (50%) of UK workers predict that AI will significantly impact how they work within the next five years, but they are also aware of the huge benefits that AI can bring. This is particularly true of younger generations; as 37% of 18-34 year olds think that AI will create more opportunities by making them more efficient.

1 个月Black History for me means the great blues singers and guitarists of the Southern states of America, who inspired a whole generation of white, predominantly middle class British teenagers who went on to become gifted exponents themselves. Ironically it was these privileged 'white boys' who shone the spotlight on their underprivileged black soulmates and, in groundbreaking collaborations across the USA created an unforgettable genre of music that will last for all time.

1 个月Regarding "Black History Month", the issue of "Reclaiming Narratives", there appears to be no limit where stories (past and present) could be told. Having researched the issue - not entirely - one example comes to mind : "I May Destroy You" written by actress Michaela Coel, based on a harrowing real life experience, thanks to viewing countless documentaries, I've been made aware of the fact that every movie goes through any number of changes in the script and Ms Coel reportedly turned down $1,000,000 by Netflix as she wanted her story being told. No amount of money could stop her - even from a global company, Netflix - proof that she has authority/remit on what's rightfully hers and respect her for doing so: silence is not an option anymore for those who wish for us to stay quiet.
I was watching an interview Morgan Freeman made regarding #Black History Month. He said: Quote. "Why just one month, if I suggested a white history month. As a white man. How would that make you feel. To sum up a world history in one month." The point was understood. He was in favour of awareness. He further commented that in order for racism to cease. We should stop talking about it. Practice being nice to each other. Be breatheren. Be kind. Regardless. A fine commentary over an interview intent on attaining soundbites. The Network received wisdom. In my opinion two fine men comment on the world stage. Mr Denzel Washington. Mr Morgan Freeman. I identify with their wisdom mostly. As a reflection of my own family values. I was blessed with progressive parents. We never recognised others, other than as peoples of our world. We share our love & thoughts of peace. Oneworld. Oneword. Peace. In our Time. Please. Thank you. Janine Louise Randles. Terry. TPQAPK. wavdyline. Renewables/Art÷.
