Black Art or Reality - Predictive Software Analytics for the Financial Sector
Any portfolio manager will tell you that the process of managing financial positions from end investor announcements at quarter end is still considered a “black art”. With many companies disappointing Wall Street’s expectations it is not so much the short term market moves that count rather it is the longer term on being bullish or bearish that will dictate what the future equity returns approach might be and should adjustments and/or tweaks be necessary.
The emergence of predictive analytic tools interacting with “big data” in the past few years has changed the perception of many investors reading the signals and predictions around asset price movements. The good old days relied upon the internet, twitter feeds and chat rooms offering sentimental analysis to better understand the likely movement of stocks. This approach still works although the migration towards a more analytical teardown of historical numerical data to provide visual pattern recognition is slowly gaining ground.
EidoSearch is one example of a fintech start-up caught up in the throws of bringing about the data analytics revolution. Their technical analysis engine embedded within the Xinfinit cloud container allows investors to get their hands around asset future price movements based on historical trends and patterns.
"EidoSearch worked with Xinfinit to create an innovative outlet for our objective statistics and return probability algorithms hosted within Xinfinit’s cloud-based open web container. The Xinfinit software developers were able to grasp our ideas and build widgets to find relationships in any financial market data using our content-based search engine".

8 年Hi Allan, this will work - at least until others catch up and find similar. The whole thing is a hot topic: use CNNs (Convolutional Neural Network) Algorithms to find patterns at large and take automatic decisions on it. It will not create new businesses, but it will work on the ones established at least for a while... \Gerd
