TIME FOR ANOTHER BLAC FRIDAY: We're Rooting for Black
This week was both rewarding and tough at the same time. I experienced death in my family and the birthday of my 80-year-old mother so it’s hard to feel sad when we have so much celebrating to do while we’re still here.

This week,?BLAC features?a handful of businesses and?people?that are making us proud, from the work of?stylist Daun Green?to the author?Denise Crittendon, we are always rooting for Black. Even during one of the busiest and emotionally charged times of the year, we still bring you stories on how to support?Black holiday films,?Black advent calendars?and even?Black dolls?to help build children’s self esteem. We’ve got you covered because at the end of the day, we’re all we got.
We want to especially patronize the artistic work of local artists,?James Charles Morris?and the Detroit filmmakers,?The Chedda Boys?as they carve out their artistic expressions and as always try something sweet this weekend with our Black folks recipes on?Pecan Pie?and?Peach cobbler.

Former BLAC Editor, Denise Crittendon Releases Novel, 'Where It Rains In Color'
Published by Angry Robot Books, Where it Rains in Color is a newly released sci fi novel by Detroit’s own Denise Crittendon, former editor of BLAC known earlier as African American Family Magazine. Where it Rains in Color chronicles the character Lileala’s struggle to preserve ancestral traditions while battling enemies who oppose the powers of melanin on the planet Swazembi. Largely a statement about Black women and their collective self-image, the novel contains messages of empowerment.

A new Disney animated series, “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” stars Detroit-native Diamond White as Lunella (aka Moon Girl) that follows 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Moon Girl and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur, as they protect New York City’s Lower East Side from danger.

Life of a Detroit Stylist and Showroom Curator Duane Green
Wardrobe stylist Daun Green made her name as a fashion visionary behind some of the most accomplished Detroit independent films, ‘Power & Money,” and “Code of Thieves.” That majestic music video “Beautiful Moments” by Charity and iconic red carpet looks for Detroit rapper Nisha Nashae, were both styled by Daun Green owner of ‘Dusk ‘Til Daun.’
