UAE to reopen borders to Qatar
The UAE will reopen its borders to Qatar from 9th January, making it the first of several boycotting countries to do so after a more than three-year blockade. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt in June 2017 cut air, land and sea links with Qatar over claims the gas-rich nation backed Islamists and was too close to Iran.

Net outflow from equity mutual funds rose to a record ?13,121 crore in December, topping the ?13,004 crore net outflow in the previous month. Investors bailed on equity mutual funds, choosing instead to pile into IPOs or invest directly in stocks as markets climbed to record highs.

Economists urge PM to push privatisation, increase infrastructure spending
In a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top economists including including former Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya, suggested relaxing the fiscal deficit target in order to push infrastructure spending and steer the pandemic-hit economy back to the growth path and to draw up a 10-year road map to make India a $10 trillion economy.

WhatsApp updates Terms of Service: Accept privacy policy or lose access to app
WhatsApp is set to update its Terms of Service and privacy policies soon. The popular messaging platform's in-app notification, forced users to agree to its new privacy rules or else lose access to the app. The messaging app started trending on Twitter soon after users reported getting the message about its changed policies.
