Bitter Sweet...

It’s been a bitter sweet 2 months…
July 2022 I relaunched my business Connect Our Elders with the focus of expanding Connect Our Elders across the Nation. To date we have San Diego, Nashville, Wisconsin, and Western Washington.
What I was not expecting when I relaunched was for the Senior Care Sales Solutions Academy to gain the momentum that it did which then led to requests to work one on one with agencies.
I will never tell some story that this is what I intended and it was some master plan. It wasn’t. It simply happened.
The Academies grew and the one to one clients grew quickly. Which meant my focus on expanding Connect Our Elders across the Nation took a back seat by default.
The agency owners and marketers I’ve had the pleasure of teaching and working with directly since July 2022 is humbling to me. Never in my life did I think I'd get to this position. I wanted to be at this point, but did I ever believe I could? Kind of, but not really. That’s the thing about kind of believing and coming from a family that drove “you will work, you will work hard, everything that you do you will be the best at it”…the lessons from my logger Dad and house cleaning business owner Mum now resonate stronger than ever.
My Dad was a logger and some may think who cares? But my Dad is known in the town for being a great logger. Someone who could de-limb a log faster and unlike any other.
My Mum cleans houses and some may say who cares, how’s that apply to what you do now, Sarah? I’ll tell you how. My Mum drilled into me that no matter what you do, you better do it the absolute best that you can. When we think of leaders my Mum is the best. She says it and does it. She cleans houses and she looks at cleaning houses as if it’s a science. Nobody will clean a house as good as my Mum does. She holds super high expectations. She always has…in her craft.
I share these things about my parents to share that this is what drives me in helping home care agencies. It’s not just money to me. I take it personally. It matters to me whether I get growth in the agency and within the individual marketer(s) I work with. This is what my craft is.
The work I’m doing is personal for me because I come from parents where excellence is demanded in whatever you do regardless of what it is you choose to do.
To bring it full circle now…

My mantra is that I wish to train and support agencies so well that they don’t need me. This is something the military has taught me. Good leadership doesn’t create dependency. Good leadership creates leaders. So, since doing what I’ve been doing in recent years my mindset has been to educate, support, and grow agencies to the point where I’m no longer needed. To me this is good leadership and common sense. I don’t wish to create dynamics of dependency.
With all this said, yes a long winded way in which I thought of my parents because the older I get the more I miss them and am capable of seeing the lessons…I want to publicly share that I’ve recently have a few clients graduate from needing me at such a high capacity. These clients have either hired externally for a sales director because their business development staff grew and it was the correct next move which I support or they’ve promoted and internal person to sales director.
At the end of the day this is EXACTLY what I want to see!
What this means for me and for you, if you’re a home care owner, I now have capacity to bring on new clients.
If you’re interested in learning more about how I can assist your home care agency in growing and not being just another agency rather the advisory go to level agency, send me a message.
Please enjoy some pictures below of who I am and who my family is. I was born and raised in Porter, Maine. I am the first of my family to leave the town, first to get a college education. The thing is, the older I get the more and more I realize " who cares?"
What life is really about is connection to others. If it's a perfect world it's connection to our family. I'm thinking that anybody reading my stream of thought right now at this point is of the understanding that we cannot assume that everyone has family. Hence the kinless elder issue.
Anyway...I'm just rambling now. So many things I wish to discuss to revamp the way home care business developers do their jobs. What I'll say to end this...it's not about the number of impressions...it's all about the quality of the impressions that gets results. Food for thought for you Owners out there...focus on an attainable activity goal that allows for quality. Please comment with your guesses as to what you think the target activity level is. I'd love to hear!
