A Bitter Sweet Last Time

The Rolling Stones and I share our birth year. While their members gradually depart from the band, Keith seems destined to outlive them all. I have an advantage of about 20 years on Mick, Ronnie and the aforementioned guitarist.

Their 1965 hit single The Last Time has been one of my favorites since I became interested in pop music in the mid-seventies, roughly a dozen years after its release. It captivated me instantly.

Then, twenty years later in 1997, the same happened with Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve. That was no coincidence. It turned out that the Glimmer Twins were inspired writing The Last Time as The Verve was composing their Bitter Sweet Symphony.
