Bitter Pill
This week, it is ‘Bitter Pill’ by Neptune Rain.
Bitter Pill is the latest single from UK rock band, Neptune Rain. Feel free to check out the other reviews that I have done where I talked about ‘Nothing Left To Save’ and ‘All Pain, No Gain’.?
If you are familiar with the band’s sound, their influences consist of the likes of Linkin Park, Muse and Justin Timberlake. Bitter Pill has been the darkest and honest sounding track that they have released as well as showing off their heavier side, just like what they did with their song ‘We Breathe The Same’ and I am impressed with how they managed to pull it off because it works very well with their over-arcing sound. The synth accompaniment that they have brought into the song works so well, the teamwork of Simon, Ollie and Rob combined with the fast-paced drums and Kieran’s rapping ability gives the song an air of improvement in comparison to their debut material when they first started out, which goes to show the level of evolution that the band have shown.
The story behind the song is that it talks about the overall struggles that the band have been through since the start and during the pandemic, but it also does show that there is light at the end and with the band’s lyrical theme being focused on mental health, it really encapsulates the feeling the downward spiral as well as maintaining the positive and anthemic feel that band try to showcase in their material.
