Imagine Dr. Martin Luther King delivering the keynote address at the pro-crypto Presidential Inauguration on January 20th, 2025. What powerful message might he share with the nation?`
"My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Today, as we stand on the steps of history—as we once did, calling for justice, equality, and freedom—I come before you with a new message of liberation. It is a message rooted in the eternal truths of justice, love, and the unshakable hope for a brighter tomorrow. But it is also a message for our present age, a message about how we might reclaim our economic dignity and chart a path toward a fairer and more equitable world.
I speak to you today about the promise of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, not merely as technological marvels but as tools of empowerment, grounded in principles that are as old as time itself and as sacred as the Word of God. Let us consider how these innovations align with the call of justice and righteousness that echoes through the ages and through the corridors of our faith.
Economic Justice and Inclusion
The Scriptures remind us, in Proverbs 31:8-9, to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Friends, we live in a world where billions remain excluded from the financial systems that shape their lives. Locked out of opportunity, they struggle not because of a lack of effort but because of systems that deny them access.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies provide a bridge to those who have been cast aside by traditional banks and financial institutions. They offer a way for the unbanked to participate in the global economy, to save and transact without fear of exploitation. This is economic justice in action—the fulfillment of a promise that no man, woman, or child should be left behind. That no man, woman or child suffers the indignity and humiliation of a sub-optimal credit report score.
Empowering the Oppressed
Galatians 5:1 declares, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” Yet too often, systems of economic control have become tools of oppression, wielded by the powerful to keep the marginalized in chains. But now, my friends, we have a tool of liberation: a decentralized form of money that no government or corporation can control.
Transparency and Accountability
Ephesians 4:25 tells us to “put away falsehood and speak the truth.” Our world is plagued by corruption, by hidden deals and opaque systems that enrich the few at the expense of the many. But blockchain technology—the foundation of cryptocurrency—operates in the light. It offers transparency and accountability, ensuring that justice is not an abstract concept but a lived reality.
Fostering Equality and Equity
My friends, James 2:1-4 warns us against favoritism, reminding us that all are equal in the eyes of the Lord. In the same way, cryptocurrency does not discriminate. It does not ask where you come from, the color of your skin, the language you speak or the religion you practice. It provides the same opportunities to all, leveling the playing field so that no one is left without a chance to thrive.

Promoting Peaceful Resistance
Let us remember that our struggle has always been rooted in nonviolence. Matthew 5:9 tells us, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Bitcoin represents a peaceful revolution, a way to resist unjust systems without violence or destruction. It allows us to build a new world not by tearing down but by creating anew—brick by brick, block by block.
Stewardship and Justice
Micah 6:8 reminds us of what the Lord requires: “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Cryptocurrency calls us to be better stewards of our resources. It challenges us to eliminate waste, to seek efficiency, and to create systems that serve humanity rather than exploit it. It is an invitation to act justly in a world that cries out for justice.
A Vision of Hope
Friends, as I stand here today, I am reminded of a dream I once shared with you in 1963. It was a dream of a world where the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners could sit together at the table of brotherhood. Today, I see a new table being built—a table of economic equality, where all are welcome. As the Scriptures tell us, "there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus".
All can share in the fruits of their labor, and where justice flows like a mighty stream because the fruit of our labor is not diluted by the slavery of exorbitant levels of debt. As St. Paul reminds us "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law."
In this passage, Paul advises Christians to live responsibly, including financially, by avoiding unnecessary debt. Instead, he emphasizes that the only "debt" believers should carry is the moral obligation to love one another, as love fulfills God's commandments.
Let us embrace this new technology not with blind faith but with careful discernment inspired by the Holy Spirit. Let us use it to lift the oppressed, to empower the powerless, and to create a world that reflects the kingdom of God. For the work of justice is never finished, and the call to righteousness is eternal.
Let us rise up once more, not just to dream but to build—to build a world where justice reigns, where freedom rings, and where the dignity of every human being is upheld. It is a world that empowers individuals to take ownership of their financial futures, to stand tall and proclaim, “We are free, We are free, Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
Thank you, and God bless you all."
