Bitcoin hits another new high ??
Less than two weeks after reaching new heights, Bitcoin has hit another all-time high of $107,822 as the fervour around the market-leading token continues. The latest high was fuelled by a recent interview from President-elect Donald Trump, where he was asked about the implementation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve. When asked, Trump replied “Yes, I think so,” before saying that any delays in embracing crypto could place the U.S behind other countries. "We're gonna do something great with crypto, but others are embracing it, and we want to be ahead," he said.
Bitcoin is proving important elsewhere too as a Japanese lawmaker has urged his government to consider a national Bitcoin reserve. A request to discuss the formation of a reserve was submitted in December, and sees Japan become the latest country to kick-start the process of establishing something using Bitcoin after Russia, Brazil and Poland also expressed interest.
Elsewhere, World Liberty Financial, Donald Trump’s DeFi project, has expanded its crypto treasury by investing in another $1 million of LINK, the native token of price-feed aggregator Chainlink. LINK is now the project’s fourth-largest holding after ETH, BTC and USDT, which follows Chainlink’s integration to the project by providing pricing data and cross-chain infrastructure.
Finally, cumulative trading volumes on Solana-based DEXes have almost reached $1 trillion following the emergence of the meme coin craze on its blockchain. Volumes currently sit at $938 billion, and with average weekly trading volumes of $40 billion, it’s expected that the trillion dollar mark could be passed by the end of the year.
