In Spring 1982 I aspired to be an investment banker on Wall Street. What better way to meet people on Wall Street than to be a New York City debutante at the International Debutante Ball representating North Carolina. His father is a native of Horry County. Harold always referred to his own mother as the “real” Helen McDonald. She’s buried with her parents Julia Alice Sowell and Daniel McDonald in my mother’s hometown. My mother was Betty Sue McDonald. Harold was on the Harvard Medical School faculty in 1978.
