A bit of advice, free for all

If one thing will determine success, it is to have the confidence of believing in yourself enough not to pigeonhole your career into a narrow pathway. It pains me to think of the people I have seen who insist they can only fit into a limited set of defined career paths. My advice, freely given and as accessible to ignore as the money it costs you to read this message, is simple: Don't do that.
I have excelled in many roles in life because I learned that life has one constant: change. That change may require you to seek other avenues to be successful. You're building a common trap that may stall your progression.
Fear not, though - you have the power to change that outcome! By expanding your vision beyond what you've done to roles, you might not possess 100% of the qualifications for, you immediately open yourself to learning new things. In so doing, you add value to the most valuable product of all - yourself.
Any entity that wants to build a stronger future takes chances to add those who may have experience that can add value to their team. They are short for the world if they want cookie-cutter people who fit into a single mold. Any brilliant entity seeks diverse voices and ideas, as even the most minor sparks can drive a creative fire that isn't seen in the 'must check the boxes' world. If everyone in the organization is the same, it's a haven for the routine, the mundane, and it won't adapt to change.

Those who adapt and overcome survive. They can change their world versus allowing the world to dictate their path. If there is one thing I hope for anyone seeking a new role, it is that they learn to take a leap of faith and try new things. Please don't let anyone define who you are; instead, just specify the path you choose to take. You will open yourself to a world of possibilities.
The advice given here is worth exactly what you paid - nothing. What you do with that advice, your perception, your choice matters. I sincerely hope you succeed and avoid getting trapped by convention.
Have a nice day, don't worry, be happy!

1 年Very true. And it takes special people, I think, to recognize another who is taking a chance at something new that they're not fully qualified for. To recognize the curiosity and intellect that comes with a valuable human.
