The birthday wish from Sir David Attenborough

I remember a few weeks before my son turned two years old, my husband and I were talking what gift we should buy for him. We sat down in the living room while watching the latest series " Wild Isles" on BBC, and an idea crossed my mind " Why we don't write a letter to sir David if he can send a birthday wish to our son as a surprise. I am sure Alex will be appreciated when he is older".

Our family was living in Hangzhou, China where the city is called " Haven on Earth". The reason for this is the abundance of green in and around the city, which is quite contrast with some other cities here. Although living in the big city, we were lucky enough to have beautiful teafields, rivers and lakes close by, to escape to during the weekends.

We are truly inspired by Attenborough's compassion and devotion to the nature of our planet. Recently we also have been showing his programs to our little son. As a parent, we feel this is very important for a small human being and hope this nourishes his love for nature when he grows up.

When we sent a letter to Sir David and were afraid of he would be very busy with his new programs. Surprisingly, he sent a letter back in a week. We were so happy as we knew that it is a meaningful gift for my son.
