The Birthday Edition...

The Birthday Edition...

The most commonly asked question upon meeting someone new is usually....

"So... what do you do?"

As a Visibility Specialist 13 years in, what I've learned over those years and my lifetime is that connection really is key.

So before I share this feast of a post, please know this:

  1. I walk my talk when it comes to being visible, I'd say I'm more of a mentor and a teacher. It means that I wholeheartedly understand the hesitancy you may experience when it comes to sharing a post like this. People often wonder whether it's too personal to be professional.
  2. If I worried about what other people thought of me, I'd spend a lot of my time NOT doing the very things that bring me joy. I'd hesitate, procrastinate, and decide not to. In my books, that's not a life well lived
  3. Blood. Sweat and Tears. Behind the "pinch me" moments for so many, there are lots of blood, sweat and tears. Sometimes things don't go to plan or work out and I think it's just as important to share the journey, be honest and stay in integrity, even when no one is watching. My motto is Share from the scar, not the wound.

That said, on this 'another year' day, here are some things for those of you who want to get to know who I am as an actual human...
