The Birth of Scrum Master Guidebook!

One day I was composing the Job description for the Scrum Master role.

Other than writing routine everyday work specified in the Scrum guide book, I was including some?more statements for the senior scrum master role. We were struggling in a few areas as a scrum master.

The organization had an impression anyone can play a scrum master role! It is just facilitating and driving a few events!! After failing to satisfy some deadlines in product delivery, the organization recognizes, it is not the case that we thought. As an individual contributor, anyone without maturity will struggle to perform this role. We choose to recruit senior members as a scrum master role and deliberately highlight unique skills to drive the show.

I come across the below points and was considering, how do we develop the below points?

  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to partner with Product Owners and Project Managers to ensure releases are successful
  • Your ability to influence behavior without having an organizational hierarchy
  • Your excellent communication and people-interaction skills
  • Driving a collaborative and supportive team culture through team building and engagement practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization?
  • Establish a trusting and safe team environment where problems can be addressed without blame or judgment with a focus on problem-solving and will foster a "learn by doing" environment.
  • Influence others including those more senior on best practices
  • Inspire others to adopt the new processes and improvements based on program retrospectives
  • Develop self and support others’ development to achieve full potential
  • Must be able to nurture self-organizing, high performing teams through servant leadership and mentoring
  • Fosters the culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship that follows best practices of effective Agile teams
  • Blah blah blah......

There are many more, I just picked a few and started thinking, how can I help my scrum master colleagues.

With all the thought, an attempt has been created by me to strengthen the above skills in scrum master role.

Where I recommend a 7C model to strengthen 7 areas to augment the Scrum Master role.

I have been experimenting with this model for some time and examining how it is stimulating my scrum master colleagues.

I am hopeful with this 7C model?individual can perform a stronger scrum master role. We require to experiment and observe how it is profitable.…
