The Birth of Jesus

The Birth of Jesus

The Messiah's coming had been foretold, by Prophets in the Old Testament, many centuries before it actually happened. This is one of the many pieces of evidence that the Scriptures are true.

The Prophesy

"For a child is born to us,?a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace?will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the?Lord?of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen". Isaiah 9

It's a boy!

About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David’s town, for the census. As a descendant of David, he had to go there. He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant.

While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger because there was no room in the hostel.

When the angels appeared to the shepherds, they proclaimed that Jesus' birth was meant to both glorify the Father who is eternally exalted & to bring peace to the people who enjoy His favor upon all the earth.

The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises,

?? Glory to God in the heavenly heights,

Peace to all men and women on earth who please him ??

Fair Warning

As we celebrate Christmas, we should ensure that the seriousness of the need for the birth of Jesus is not overshadowed by commercialization and worldly celebrations.

#Christmas is a time to celebrate the great work God did for you and me when He sent His Son to be born on earth as an infant. He was born so that he could redeem humanity from sin & reconcile us back to God. Jesus Christ is the sole reason for the season. Joy to the World, the Lord has come!

Luke 2, Isaiah 9
