But The Birds Are Mean

But The Birds Are Mean

Sometimes, you have to just let it go. Even if it means letting it all come crashing down.

I was working for an interior design company in Los Angeles, and we were designing this gorgeous home in the Platinum Triangle of LA. The owner of the home happened to accidentally marry a Hollywood actress.

I say accidentally because that is what it felt like to us. One minute we were designing this sleek bachelor pad and the next minute we were adding beaded wallpaper to the guest bathroom. (Although I will say the beaded wallpaper was a work of art)

Anyway, the actress decided that the gorgeous wallpaper we had already installed wasn't right. She said, "The birds look mean." And she meant it.

We tried to explain that this wallpaper cost over 10k, and that didn't include the cost of the installation. However, she didn't care. And so, we tore down the wallpaper.

And this got me thinking. Sometimes, myself included, we try to keep that dang wallpaper up because it can be easier than tearing it down.

We don't like having to start over. I know I don't. I know how hard it is to get something up and running and willing myself to get moving can be super challenging.

But.

What if letting it all come crashing down isn't the worst thing in the world?

What if, it's better?

In the long run?

Maybe everything came crashing down and it wasn't your decision. (That's happened to me more times than I'd like to count. Hence my insane amount of work history...)

So, on this Monday, if you're feeling like everything has come crashing down, or perhaps you're tired of keeping that wallpaper up - it's okay.

You're going to be okay.

You're going to make it through.

Every time it's happened before, you've made it.

As far as the bird wallpaper, we of course chose something gorgeous to replace it.

And they're no longer married.

Cheers to Monday!

XOXO,

Maria
