The bird is freed ?? ?? ?? ?? ??
While the world celebrates the news of Elon Musk becoming the Chief Twit, there are even?bigger concerns about? the rise of hate speech, racist memes and slurs. Soon after taking control over Twitter, Musk's cryptic tweet, "The bird is freed," has given conservatives, extremists and conspiracy theorists more reason to?celebrate the change.
That is what most media houses are picturing or?talking at least? . But is it really true? "Propaganda press continues their fight against freedom of speech by lying about Twitter,"?said? Mollie Ziegler Hemingway, the editor-in-chief at The Federalist.
Here's what the self-described 'free speech absolutist,' aka Elon Musk,?thinks? of it as…
A day before announcing the deal to the world –?besides the 'let that sink in' incident?– Musk?wrote a letter? to advertisers, saying that it is important to the future of civilisation to have a digital town square. However, he also said that Twitter obviously could not become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said/posted with no consequences.?
He also said that in the relentless pursuit of clicks, many traditional media have fueled and catered to those polarised extremes, as it brings them money, but, in the process, the opportunity for dialogue is lost.?
Further, he said that he did not buy Twitter to make more money or because it was the easiest thing to do. "I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love," said Musk, saying that he is doing so with humility, recognising that failure in pursuing this goal, despite their best efforts, is a real possibility.?
Ironically, in a completely different context, Musk once?tweeted? , saying that he hates advertising. But now, he needs advertisers to run Twitter more than ever. However, Musk, alongside Twitter co-founder?Jack Dorsey? and investors, previously had suggested moving away from advertising and seeking revenue from subscriptions and other alternative means.?
Freeing the bird gets a little messy?
Zuby asked Musk if Twitter should find a way to monetisation partners with its top creators. "Like every other social media app. A small percentage create all the high engagement content and keep the site active," he added. To this, Musk?replied , saying, "Absolutely."?
This would be interesting to see as Twitter struggles?to engage? its most active users, who are vital to the business. These account for less than 10 per cent of overall monthly users however generate 90 per cent of all tweets and half of the global revenue.
Then, there are bots, or fake accounts, ruining the platform's reputation. For the same reason, many of the?C-suits were fired? last week, including the former Twitter chief?Parag Agrawal? , CFO?Ned Segal? , and head of legal policy?Vijaya Gadde? , mainly on the grounds of misleading Musk and Twitter investors over the number of fake accounts/bots on the platform.?
Musk recently said the company would create a?content moderation council?with diverse viewpoints. "No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes," he added, clarifying that they have not made any changes to Twitter's content moderation policies yet.?
It is really interesting to see?how Twitter will evolve? or the bird will grow in the coming months under?Elon Musk's? leadership.?

With a population of more than 138 crores, the data generated in India is massive. The Government of India (GoI) wants to ensure that data generated domestically stays in the country. Today, most of the generated data is stored and processed outside India. Moreover, since mobile penetration and cloud adoption is on a significant rise, data volume is also growing. Data protection has thus become increasingly important.?

Investors are flocking to startups working with generative AI models. Last week, open-source image generator Stable Diffusion, raise USD 101 million to become a unicorn. Just a day later, Jasper, an AI content platform used for copywriting, raised USD 125 million to touch a valuation of USD 1.5 billion.
