The Birchbox Man Beta Tested a New Box- Here's The Scoop
So what is the beta Birchbox Man? This graphic from them explains it best.
Main points:
- It is $10 instead of the normal $20 but you only get 4 items.
- The 4 items you get are all for the SAME purpose- four face washes, four body washes, four shampoos.
- This is meant for you to find your favorite face wash (or other hygiene item) after the first box so you can order a full size version. Instead of trying a different one in each box they send four in one box.
What I think:
Before I say anything else, I want to make it clear that I absolutely love Birchbox, I have been on and off using it for about 1.5 years now (ya boy is broke, and no they are not paying me.... yet.... maybe... okay fine). They have introduced me to brands like Bombas and Das Boom- I have nothing but love for this company and I truly want to see them succeed. Anything negative I may say is purely for them, in my opinion, to improve.
Let's get started..I think it's a great idea on paper, right? I mean you try four of the same type of product and you can pick your favorite one and then not have to try anymore samples. Here's the thing, you try using four different face washes at the same damn time and see what happens to your skin.
I understand I have a month to use it and I understand how it would save time to knock each product by category, but I have a few problems with that. What are you going to do when people have their favorite of each category (Shampoo, body wash, face wash, hair styling, face mask, lip balm- I tried to think of everything?) That is at max six boxes, so after six boxes I'm out *peace* The fun of Birchbox to me was getting a new product and completely changing my routine each month (until the sample runs out). The beta just doesn't work for me. That doesn't mean it won't work for everyone, some people will probably love the idea. For Birchbox Man to improve in my opinion, I think the beta is a great option but it SHOULD NOT replace the current way Birchbox is set up (no idea if that was a possibility.) It can totally be a subscription option, so customers can choose which one they want to do. Again, the $10 is much better than the $20 because I have a lot of zero's in my bank account but sadly zero is the only number in my bank account.
In short- Birchbox is great and I think that every guy and girl should try it. The Birchbox for her has some great reviews and it comes from the same company- plus girls have so many products that are so pricey so this would be a great gift for her! Men's style and fashion is being revolutionized at the moment, men are caring more about how they look and feel. Everything from trying a face mask to getting sheets from Thread Experiment- let's advance the modern man.
*Update on how I like the face washes- I actually really like all of them. The smell of Face to Face is amazing,the Clinique Charcoal face wash makes my skin super soft, the Ursa Major I haven't used it as much but it gets the job done and makes my face glow, the Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Cleanser I love grapefruit so this one is approved- my favorite (not by much) is Face to Face.
