Bipartisan resolution condemning Turkey

Bipartisan resolution condemning Turkey

Top House Republicans and Democrats are introducing a resolution condemning Turkey after Erdogan’s security officials brutally beat US protesters in DC last week.

House Foreign Affairs Chairman Ed Royce, New York's Eliot Engel, the top Democrat on the panel, Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer are introducing the House resolution sharply criticizing the Erdogan government's handling of the issue and call on those involved to be prosecuted.

The measure is non-binding, but it adds to a chorus of strong public condemnation of the incident and of President Erdogan’s tactics by senior members of Congress in both parties. The resolution will be considered on Thursday at the full committee markup.

Erdogan is following the foreign policy of the Ottomans, which says that he burks wherever and everywhere he finds the opportunity to do so, and plays to all tables.
