Bipartisan Bulletin: Zoned in on Affordable Housing
This month at the BPC, we are “zoned in†on affordable housing. Our J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy is committed to advancing public policies that support broad access to affordable housing so that every family, regardless of wealth or background, can live in a decent, safe, and affordable home. Here’s the latest:??
- Today, the Terwilliger Center hosts the second annual Housing Supply Solutions Summit, where more than 500 thought leaders are gathered to share innovative ideas to help Americans struggling with high and unsustainable housing costs. Expert panelists discussed construction innovation, opportunities for congressional intervention, homelessness, and more. You can watch a recording of the summit here.?
- At the Innovative Housing Showcase on the National Mall, Senior Policy Analyst Francis G. Torres asked what the federal government can do to increase housing affordability in the U.S. Attendees coalesced around the priority of expanding the overall housing supply—a core goal of the Terwilliger Center. Check out the video on LinkedIn.?
- Last week, Dennis Shea , executive director of the Terwilliger Center and Dr. Orphe Divounguy , senior economist at Zillow, joined me on LinkedIn Live to talk about the factors driving the rise in housing costs and opportunities for Congress to help alleviate the strain.?
Housing affordability is a nationwide problem affecting too many Americans, and the Terwilliger Center, now in its 3rd year at BPC, is working hard to advance bipartisan solutions at the federal level. BPC is grateful to the sponsors of today’s summit— Zillow , 美国银行 , Enterprise Community Partners , Mortgage Bankers Association , National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders (NAAHL) , National Association of REALTORS? , National Multifamily Housing Council , and Novogradac & Company LLP —for helping us elevate this issue and work toward an America where everyone can afford a place to call home.?
