- Start Codon hosted their fifth Innovation Showcase, featuring presentations from portfolio companies Indegra Therapeutics, Emm, Octiocor, and Awen Oncology, and exhibitions by Adora Digital Health, Cardiac-Tech Ltd, Proxximos and Verinnogen. We had a fantastic afternoon learning about each of their innovative technologies and how they're tackling an area of unmet need in human health.
- We attended LSX's Investival Showcase, which brought together life science executives, investors and dealmakers to explore topics such as building effective pharma collaborations, identifying successful strategic deals, and maximising growth post-fundraising.
- Our team headed down to The Wellcome Collection in London for "Investing in Cambridge: A Gateway to Breakthrough Life Sciences Innovations". We heard from 18 innovative companies, including several just out of stealth mode, presenting the cutting-edge technologies shaping their ventures to an audience of investors and leaders in the life science sector.
- ELRIG UK's 'Protein Sciences in Drug Discovery' event took place at Hinxton Hall in Cambridge, where we learnt about the latest advances in protein science to address the challenges of modern drug discovery. The event also featured technology spotlights, including a presentation from Nuclera on how eProtein Discovery can accelerate protein production workflows - facilitating the production of functional proteins in just 48 hours.
- We connected with individuals shaping the future of biotech at o2h group's 6th Influencer Biotech Bootcamp at Hauxton House, Cambridge. The day featured insightful sessions from funding to strategy, innovation and more, and concluded with a session from George Freeman, former Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation, and Pippa Heylings, MP for South Cambridgeshire, talking all things Cambridge and its wealth of global leaders in biotech!

- Nuclera announces Domainex as the first CRO to have installed the eProtein Discovery system to streamline protein production services.
- Mursla Bio joins leading European consortium, EVEREST, to advance extracellular vesicle research, innovation and clinical translation for the benefit of patients, and announces results of its multi-centre clinical study, MEV01, in collaboration with leading academic institutes. The ongoing study is investigating the Company’s dynamic biopsy-based blood test, EvoLiver?, for the surveillance of primary liver cancer among high-risk, cirrhotic patients. Data presented at AASLD Liver Meeting demonstrates that EvoLiver significantly surpasses current standards in liver cancer surveillance.
- Bio-Rad demonstrates leadership position in the oncology market ahead of AMP 2024, announcing updates to its oncology assay portfolio and key regulatory milestones, including achieving IVDR Class C certification for its QXDx BCR-ABL %IS Kit (IVD/CE-IVD) to monitor patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia, as well as strategic collaborations with leaders in the fields of molecular residual disease detection and circulating tumour DNA analysis.
- Sphere Fluidics announces a significant expansion of its global commercial teams, including global commercial leadership changes, and establishes a new direct sales and support channel in North America.
- CN Bio launches PhysioMimix? Bioavailability assay kit: Human 18. The kit harnesses capabilities of the PhyioMimix Multi-organ System to enhance lead optimisation and preclinical testing pipelines, providing an all-in-one solution to generate predictive insights into human oral bioavailability, and better inform lead candidate selection.
- Enterprise Therapeutics publishes peer reviewed study in European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. The paper describes the medicinal chemistry optimisation of a new series of ENaC blockers, resulting in the invention of ETD001, Enterprise’s lead asset, a potential new inhaled treatment for cystic fibrosis.
- OBN announces the winners of its annual awards. This was the 16th year of the awards, which OBN (UK) Ltd established to celebrate innovation and outstanding achievement across the industry.
- Metrion Biosciences appoints Lee Patterson as CEO. An experienced life sciences and CRO executive, Lee will guide the Company as it seeks to execute an ambitious growth strategy, enhancing its specialist services and expanding further in key global markets. He succeeds Dr Andrew Southan, who has decided to step down as CEO after five years in the post.
- Centauri Therapeutics announces it has been awarded a £1M grant under new PACE (Pathways to Antimicrobial Clinical Efficacy) programme to advance immunotherapy platform in anti-infectives, and will support the continued development of Centauri’s Alphamer? technology for targeting Gram-negative bacteria including Multi-Drug Resistant bacterial strains.
