Bioprocessing Science Advances On The Shoulders Of Giants

Aegros was proud to attend and be a sponsor of the BioProcessing Network’s 2022 Conference, held 18-20 October at Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour Sydney.

Around 200 delegates attended the 15th annual conference, to meet, exchange ideas, and to hear from leading students, academics, and researchers in the field of bioprocessing.

Bioprocessing is the production of material from living sources, and it is a vital part of health and medical science, including for plasma derived medicines, stem cell research and vaccine production investigation and production. Bioprocessing also sits at the heart of a host of other innovations, such as cultivated meat proteins for human consumption, fuel processing, and wine production.

Attendees heard from a range of presenters on these and related topics. There was also a series of academic posters on display, showcasing emerging research and breakthroughs in bioprocessing from future thought leaders.

Aegros’ HaemaFrac? featured in the presentations at the conference, where the novel electroseparation of proteins in blood plasma, and the HaemaFrac?’s unprecedented yields are made possible thanks to Aegros’ membrane technology. The Aegros presentation was very well received and Aegros representatives received lots of follow up questions and interest in where we are headed with this technology.

A very special part of the Conference for Aegros was our sponsorship of the Joel Margolis & Perry Manusu Prize for best research poster presented by a student. The prize of $1,000 and a trophy was won by Thanh Huyen Phan of Sydney University, for her poster: Advancing the quality control of extracellular vesicles using multiscale characterisation.

On behalf of all at Aegros, congratulations Ms Phan.

Aegros has long been a dedicated collaborator with academic and industry institutions, and by sponsoring this student award, Aegros is able to continue to encourage the next generation of scientists.

The Joel Margolis & Perry Manusu Prize is named after the two scientists who invented the electroseparation process that makes the HaemaFrac? so effective.

The prize winner was introduced to the audience by Aegros Co-founders Professor Hari Nair and Mr John Manusu. The prize was presented to Ms Phan by Rosemary Manusu, wife of the late Dr Perry Manusu and mother of Aegros Co-founder, John Manusu.

Thank you to all who attended the Bioprocessing Network’s 2022 Conference.?
