How does burning more calories and fat at rest than you already are sound? How does gaining more muscle with the same workouts sound? How does decreasing your stress levels and improving your sleep sound? These are all examples of "Biohacking". Read on for more information on hacking your own health to improve it!
What Is Biohacking?
Biohacking involves employing methods from diverse scientific fields to enhance performance, improve overall well-being, and achieve specific health goals. It's about taking control of your biology, altering your environment both inside and outside, and pushing your body to function optimally.
At the heart of biohacking lies the desire to be better, not just “okay.” Early biohacker pioneers began applying principles from computer hacking to their own biology. These pioneers laid the groundwork for the movement, emphasizing the importance of not leaving health to luck, chance, or genetics.
Biohacking encompasses a myriad of strategies, falling into several categories below:
Biohacking Strategies
Lifestyle Biohacking: Focuses on positive health choices and behaviors, incorporating elements like dietary shifts, breathwork, meditation, and exercise.
Molecular Biohacking: Involves using natural and synthetic molecules to shift one's biology, such as the consumption of supplements.
Biologics: Utilizes cellular or biological products, including stem cells or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), to enhance biology and promote regeneration.
Technology Biohacking: Incorporates devices like wearables and diagnostics, using technology to gather data for health adjustments. Technology biohacks also include the use of advanced machines like cryotherapy and red light chambers or pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) stimulators to try and stimulate more rapid physiological changes or healing.

Popular Categories
Age Biohacking: Targeting cellular health and regeneration. Age-related biohacking examples include using techniques like red light therapy, stem cell therapy, and cryotherapy.
Energy Biohacking: Focusing on enhancing energy levels. Energy-related biohacking examples include sleep tracking devices, using light therapy, and use of meditation apps for sleep support and stress relief.
Diet and Nutrition Biohacking: Customizing diets for weight loss, metabolic efficiency, and better digestion. Diet and nutrition-related biohacking examples include the use of ketone breath analyzers and metabolism monitoring devices, continuous glucose monitors, and intermittent fasting practices
Physical Health Biohacking:? Exercise itself is a biohack along with aiding physical recovery. Physical health-related biohacking examples include cryotherapy, use of heat therapy and saunas, use of smartwatches, vibration therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, red ight therapy, and consumption of athletic supplements like creatine, amino acids, electrolytes, and caffeine
Brain Biohacking: Emphasizing the crucial role of the brain in overall health. The goal of brain biohacking is to improve brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a term often discussed in brain biohacking because this specialized protein promotes neurogenesis (the birth of new neurons) and neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to create new neural pathways). Higher levels of BDNF are associated with better overall cognitive function and memory and may offer neuroprotective effects as well. Brain-related biohacking examples include incorporating nootropics, neurofeedback therapy, brainwave entrainment, breathwork, red light therapy, and meditation.
