The Biohacker Guide

The Biohacker Guide

The first post of the #365days challenge was about some disruptive science breakthroughs of 2017. One of them is was biohacking, a movement where people try to improve their bodies using advanced biological components (CRISPR) or technological devices. This is where HVMN comes in.

HVMN (pronounced Human) is a Silicon Valley company whose mission is to develop technologies for human improvement. At the end of the year they released their first product, HVMN Ketone, an FDA-reviewed drink that claims to improve athletic ability, focus and energy.

This drink contains 120 calories, but it does not contain fats, proteins or carbohydrates. Those calories come from ketones, molecules formed by the breakdown of fat.

In addition, they have developed a complete “Biohacking Guide”, with a set of protocols and tips to optimize our biology. Of course, they introduce their product and they recommend other substances like nootropics, smart drugs, memory stimulants and cognitive enhancers that elevate mental functions, such as cognition, memory, intelligence, creativity, motivation, attention and concentration .

What do you think of this trend? Maybe gene editing it’s too much for now, but would you get into biohacking by taking new substances to optimize your body and your inputs?
