Biogas – It’s your revenue stream – Make the most of it!
With the current emphasis on renewable energy, there is an ongoing concern that gas being produced by Anaerobic Digester (AD) units for use in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) applications are not being adequately monitored. Biogas is a mix of CH4, CO2, H2S and O2. If the level of CH4 – the money-making gas – is not being monitored, the user has no indication of how to best utilise materials to gain optimum revenue. If the corrosive and potentially damaging H2S level is going undetected, it may be eating away at expensive infrastructure, causing numerous problems, not to mention the cost of repair and downtime caused.
Biogas treated to meet pipeline quality standards can be distributed through the natural gas pipeline and used in homes and businesses. It can also be cleaned and upgraded to produce compressed CNG and LNG that are used to fuel cars and trucks.
Maximum production plus minimum maintenance equals the best revenue!
Designed to monitor all elements of biogas, the GFM and Click! analysers provide users with a detailed breakdown of what gases are generated by the AD plant.
The ATEX-certified?GFM 406, as an example, is suitable for anaerobic digester applications requiring on-site measurements of biogas. It comes with standard CH4, CO2, O2 and H2S gas channels. The GFM 406 is lightweight, user-friendly and gives precise data, which can then be downloaded for easy comparison and interpretation.
With valuable data, comparisons can be made between outputs created by differing feedstock and operating conditions, leading to the rapid identification of optimum conditions that maximise revenue from the plant. In general, CH4 should be maximised, while H2S levels should be minimised to avoid damage to the engines and plant and excessive sulphur levels in the exhaust gas.

Click! systems are highly versatile.
Cyclic sampling, continuous or anything in between! Gas Data’s modular approach to gas analysis means the Click! range can be customised to the client’s requirements. Each gas monitored by a Click! system uses its own dedicated module, which can be removed and added easily as required. This means that retrospective configuration alterations can be done effortlessly. Furthermore, maintenance and service can be carried out on-site and with optimum efficiency, keeping downtime to a minimum.
All Click! systems are optimised to take accurate readings within an acceptable response time. Gas Data’s engineers will advise which sample system will give the best data and highest reliability. As an example, for gas streams directly from an AD plant, typically in the gas storage container where changes in concentration are inherently slow, a cyclic sampling system is reliable and extremely cost-effective.
