Bioaugmenation for WWTP's

Microbial Discovery Group (MDG) is a basic fermenter and isolator of microbial bioaugmentation products for the industrial and municipal wastewater treatment industries. Biology needs to team with chemistry to provide the COMPLETE solution and greatest efficiency in operating a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Unfortunately, while most service companies and engineers understand the mechanical and water chemistry aspects, they lack the knowledge to understand the biological issues. MDG is the technical expert in wastewater microbiology!

The benefits of bioaugmentation in a WWTP include:

·       Tremendous reductions in the amounts of organic sludge produced. Processing sludge (dewatering, storing, removing, aerating lagoons, etc.) is usually the largest expense in a WWTP. By decreasing the amount of sludge produced, electrical operational costs and maintenance to sludge processing equipment are both reduced. Sludge transport cast are reduced as well. The amount of sludge produced is reduced because waste is broken down more completely.

·       Much greater resilience to changes in influent chemistry, volumes, etc. The increased microbial biodiversity enables the plant to respond properly and much more quickly to changes in influent.

·       Reduction in hazardous and expensive chemicals thereby improving safety for employees, consumers, and the environment.

·       Reductions in plant downtime. Wastewater processing is a 24/7 operation. Bioaugmentation decreases the need for both planned and emergency corrective maintenance operations.

·       Reductions in capital expenditures for new equipment. By improving the overall efficiency of the WWTP, the plant will be able to process more wastewater with better results, which reduces the need for new equipment.

·       Compliance with permit limits is vastly improved because waste products are much more completely broken down.
