Bingo! Hold onto your PSS choice!
Many of you have experienced the pain: navigating through an RFP process, sitting through presentations from various system providers, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately facing the challenging task of selecting the winning system. You made your decision based on predefined criteria and ratings, fully confident in its correctness.
Now, upon reflection on the process, the chosen PSS system, and future predictions, wouldn't you consider revisiting some questions and perhaps reconsidering your answers? Often, these questions extend beyond mere functionality; they delve into emotional, contractual, or financial realms. Some are straightforward, while others may induce headaches or trigger realizations like, "Ah, I should have considered that earlier."
Did you know that many airlines fail to outline de-migration terms in their contracts and are subsequently surprised by the complexities of system changes? Dependency on current providers for data access and assistance in transitioning can make saying goodbye exceedingly difficult.
Regardless, I've compiled a list of unconventional questions that typically aren't part of an RFP, just to offer some insight into what else you might desire from your PSS. You can find the questionnaire linked below. I'm not interested in your identity or current systems in use. My aim is to discern any patterns among providers and their clientele.
I eagerly await your feedback. The more responses I receive, the more accurate the results will be. Naturally, I'll be delighted to share these findings here on LinkedIn. They won't be open-source, but they will certainly be open-minded.

7 个月Not having any skin in the game anymore, I think at least 50% of PSS migrations I did for airlines first and then for PSS vendors were a bit like replacing pest with cholera (i.e. replacing the problems you know with the problems you don't know). Often driven by some of the questions in your questionnaire (i.e. personal issues, the feeling of not being heard enough by the vendor, the perception that change requests don't get done fast enough, two killer features are missing etc.), but at most carriers I dealt with in my airline IT career, I have not seen someone showing that system B is going to save x in costs and increase y in revenues and it costs z to migrate (including all hidden internal costs). The financial realm is key, after all, because if you are not sure you can cut costs or increase revenues, why would you migrate at all? Many airlines that came to me for advice after I left the industry back in 2011 did not do a single bit of -x+y-z work but were only stuck in the emotional realm (unhappy about a, b, or c with the current PSS, considering PSS i, ii, or iii as an alternative that is not really significantly different to the incumbent).
