BIM Show Live 2020
My reflections on BIM Show Live 2020
- The industry is changing and I heard really heartening talks where change on projects is, finally, influencing organisational change. ??
- But ... and unfortunately, there is a big but ... we're not changing fast enough. Hackitt is right to be gob-smacked at the excuses the industry uses not to improve. ??What stops us from just doing it? This show demonstrated we know we can do ...
- And unfortunately, universities don't want to change either ??
- Rob Charlton's State of the Nation suggested sustained change will not happen without changing procurement and behaviours. Couldn't agree more ???? and I've said it many times, not least because both are also fundamental themes in the 2011 Government Construction Strategy.
- The UK BIM Alliance is a force for good ????.
- The guidance for ISO 19650 was rightly acknowledged for being useful and important documents ... just because it's free doesn't mean it's not extremely valuable. And the authors give this guidance pro bono! ????????????
- We need to eradicate #bimprattle and replace it for #BIMforgood ??
- Kyle Hodgson is a true inspiration ??
- We're/I'm too London-centric ??
- Parkrun changes lives for the better... when will you start???
Awesome event, well to everyone who made it happen.

5 年Rob, first things first! Parkrun each Saturday, with like minded people, of different cultures and employment. With and without kids. Akin to the Construction Sector. Get the foundations right, give guidance and allow creative thought, steer it in the right directions and retain individuality within a homogenous alignment. The rest of the opinions are very valid , even if I didn’t attend! Nice comments. Thanks

5 年Shame I couldn't make it this year, but following the event online via social media and reading your thoughts it sounds like there really is a tipping point for change in the not to distant future. Great post Rob.
