Adobe Unveils Future of Creative Cloud With Generative AI as a Creative Co-Pilot in Photoshop

Adobe has introduced Generative Fill, an integration of its generative #AI model Firefly, into Photoshop, making it the first Creative Cloud application to incorporate this technology. Adobe's Firefly aims to aid and streamline the creative process, allowing users to add, remove, or extend content from images easily and precisely. Generative Fill, trained on Adobe Stock images, understands and matches the perspective, lighting, and style of an image and creates content within separate generative layers. This allows for non-destructive editing and creative flexibility. This announcement is part of Adobe's larger initiative to implement generative AI across its Creative Cloud workflows. The company is planning to expand Firefly's capabilities across its various cloud-based services. The use of AI aligns with Adobe's AI Ethics principles, ensuring transparency, and includes a unique feature called Content Credentials, which tracks whether the content was human-created, AI-generated, or AI-edited.

5 Surprising reasons why Learning Parametric Design is easier than you think

No alt text provided for this image

"Learning Parametric Design for Everyone" is a blog post by Krzysztof Wojslaw , where he dispels the misconception that only individuals with a strong mathematical background can understand parametric design. Wojslaw posits that anyone can learn this skill and gives five compelling reasons to back his claim. He maintains that simple mathematics is the foundation for parametric algorithms, making the learning process manageable. He further eases fears about trigonometry's complexity, with tools such as #Grasshopper simplifying the process. The post emphasizes reusing existing components, understanding the underlying logic, and the advantage of quick feedback provided by visual programming. It also touches upon the importance of computational thinking in mastering parametric design. Wojslaw provides a comforting, encouraging perspective for beginners intrigued by the parametric design.

What is Predictive Scripting with Node Autocomplete?

No alt text provided for this image

"Machine Learning Empowered Node Autocomplete in Dynamo" by Sol Amour discusses developing and implementing a machine learning-based feature in the #Dynamo software, Node Autocomplete. This feature helps users write code faster, with fewer errors, by providing relevant node suggestions when building graphs. Node Autocomplete was initially designed to match node types, thus simplifying user choices from a vast library of nodes. However, issues arose as edge cases were missed, and a random list of nodes appeared under variable input ports. The solution to this problem was a machine learning approach, which recommends nodes based on real-world behaviors and ranks them accordingly. The machine learning model continues to improve over time, making it more effective and reliable for users. Importantly, data used to train the model is ethically sourced, not general user data, ensuring user privacy. The author encourages feedback on the new approach to further refine the system.

In this article by Jeremy Tammik , the author discusses significant updates to Revit and RevitLookup, two key tools for design and construction professionals. Firstly, the author informs us about the release of updates for Revit 2023 and 2024, available through Autodesk's management portal. The article then covers the update of RevitLookup 2024.0.5, detailing enhancements like static members support, a Ribbon update, and several improvements and bug fixes spanning previous versions. An intriguing part of the write-up is on Backward Compatible 64 Bit Element Id, which provides code for handling ElementId 64-bit backward compatibility in Revit 2024 API. In the last part, the author briefly introduces the concepts of "15-Minute Cities" and the environmental impact of storing data in the cloud. This suggests the need for data conservation to reduce the carbon footprint.

In May, Marisa Barreda reported on enhancements to the file naming workflow within the Files tool in #bim360 Docs. Users can now batch-edit file names with numerical attributes via the new "Sequence number" option in the dropdown menu. The update requires users to input both "Start Number" and "Sequence Number" when using this feature. The former sets the starting number for the naming sequence and the latter denotes the incremental value. These numbers can be positive or negative integers or decimals, allowing for high flexibility in naming conventions.
