BIM to Digital Twin
At PHI Cubed, Inc. our slogan has been: “Solving Interoperability through Practice, Process and Technology?," for the last 14 years. Today we are very pleased to present you, Connector & Converter for Revit?, our latest integration in the building industry, created by our business partner Impararia. Now you can take advantage of all the benefits that Product life cycle Management (PLM) offers such as the 3DEXPERIENCE? Platform, while authoring in Revit? BIM. In Many industries, the Digital Twin Concept allows companies to fully define their products in 3D, with a completely integrated product delivery team. During fabrication, companies integrate their suppliers, to work in the most integrated way possible, reducing risk, errors, waste, rework, and arriving at a consensus model sooner, which allows companies to reduce their time to market.
In the building industry, the biggest threat we typically face is fragmentation. There is all kind of risk associated with this problem. The industry is operating in blind silos, where the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, this is particularly true when you're trying to coordinate across disciplines, and everyone is making changes. Reconciling those changes is burdensome and comes at the expense of the design development phase being halted prematurely. Another problem with the fragmentation is it creates a divide between design and construction, often leaving out means and methods inputs in the development of the project.
With the economic pressures acting on the developer to meet their time to market, projects are often begun with an unresolved building that now must be coordinated during the construction phase. Errors during the construction phase can be very expensive often in the millions of dollars.
At PHI Cubed we have addressed these problems by modeling projects with in-house multidisciplinary teams, working on the same model through the design & construction life cycle. We introduced 3DEXPERIENCE? Platform to have a common data environment, to share one version of the truth with the extended project delivery team. We supported the adoption of openBIM IFC 2X3 & 2X4, among other open standards. Now we give you the Revit? Connector, the Revit? Converter & Converter for Revit? Sync?.
The Connector for Revit? allows designers to manage their BIM designs in a PLM platform from within Revit? itself. By using the Connector for Revit?, you can log into 3DEXPERIENCE? directly from the Revit? UI and access designs currently being managed within the platform. Designs are easily accessible via our user-friendly ribbon, added on to the Revit? UI. Users can thus design and manage their data without ever having to leave their design environment.
Users can also track the life cycle state of Revit? projects & families, which includes who owns the model, if the model is checked out by a user for editing, and view the state of the model and its families such as, frozen, in-work, released, and very importantly obsolete
The Converter for Revit? allows users to both export native Revit? models directly to 3DEXPERIENCE? via the Revit? user interface or import native Revit? models directly from the 3DEXPERIENCE? user interface. Each geometrical element in the Revit? design is converted to a Physical Product belonging to Dassault Systèmes’ AEC Data model, and a native CATIA Object is generated per object, depending on the chosen conversion mode. The project is then reconstructed in the Product Structure Tree and can be accessed via a multitude of 3DEXPERIENCE? applications, including version tracking, Enovia Clash Detection & Design Review. Which are now available in both a rich client application and from any device via a web browser.
IMPARARIA Solutions’ Converter together with the DS infrastructure brings forth a new technology to the AEC market. The format conversion solution developed answers collaborative needs, utilizes the 3DEXPERIENCE? platform’s capabilities at a granular level of AEC entities, and allows Revit? users to manage the life cycle of each AEC entity, creating a consolidated model.
With the Converter for Revit? Sync, you can synchronize Revit objects parameters values controlled by 3DEXPERIENCE directly from Revit.
During any project phase, you can use 3DEXPERIENCE? Platform to manage the projects BIM data. With the Converter for Revit? Sync, you can synchronize Revit objects parameters values controlled by 3DEXPERIENCE directly from Revit. You also have the possibility to transfer properties values from Revit to 3DEXPERIENCE, and vice versa. Each Revit parameter, standard or custom, can be transferred in an OOTB or custom extension to the corresponding AEC object in the 3DEXPERIENCE
Giving your FM data a reliable home on 3DEXPERIENCE? Platform allows you to maintain your data synced between Revit? & 3DEXPERIENCE? Platform and eliminates the need to reconcile the data across applications.
Available today for our Enterprise clients with on as you can see with Connector for Revit? & Converter for Revit?, Converter for Revit? Sync?, we are closing the gap between BIM and the Digital Twin.

4 年congratulations Hector, as the manufacturers do not do the correct service to walk in the direction of exporting and importing truly open formats, we have to find alternative ways and converters are a good way.

4 年Great job Hector. Love that you are exploiting this and looking at interoperability witin the AEC industry...i have shared this vision as well. Impararia has worked very hard in the last years to make it right. It always been my argument against the traditional AEC visualization model vs the Virtual Mock-Up in the 3EXPERIENCE with a true Product breakdown structure . Keep us posted!
