BIM: Delivering the ‘Information’ with Confidence

As the construction industry continues to embrace Building Information Modelling (BIM), the challenge isn’t just in creating models - it’s in delivering accurate, structured, and meaningful information. Meeting the increasing expectations for digital project delivery can be complex and daunting, but at CTP, we’re finding that structured information management is becoming a critical part of many larger projects.

Aligning with Standards & Client Requirements

We work in accordance with ISO 19650, the international standard for managing information over the lifecycle of a built asset, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance. Alongside this, we tailor our approach to meet additional client-specific requirements, helping project teams stay aligned from RIBA Stages 2 to 5, right through to handover.

Delivering the right level of structured information at the right time is essential, whether for design coordination, asset management, or digital handover processes. By integrating BIM workflows early in the project, we ensure that information delivery is not just a compliance exercise but a valuable asset to the entire project lifecycle.

Technology-Driven Information Delivery

At CTP, we utilise Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civils 3D to develop fully coordinated COBie-compliant models from both our Structural and Civil Engineering teams. These models, created in their native formats, are then exported directly to IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) for validation and issue.

Optimising Workflows with Automation

With the ever-increasing demand for structured digital information, we continuously refine our workflows using automation tools and add-ins. One such tool we incorporate is DiRoots One, which helps streamline data extraction, classification, and validation - simplifying what can often be a time-consuming process.

By integrating automation and intelligent workflows, we not only improve efficiency and accuracy but also ensure that our BIM deliverables fully comply with complex digital information requirements.

The Future of BIM at CTP

As digital construction evolves, so too do the expectations around structured data, interoperability, and lifecycle information management. At CTP, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of BIM by embracing new technologies, standards, and methodologies that enhance project outcomes.

By focusing on both the model and the data it contains, we help our clients and project teams unlock the full potential of BIM—not just as a design tool, but as a powerful information management solution.
