Billy's a dreamer
Our original shop in Gadsden Alabama for Texas Grill Brush

Billy's a dreamer

In 1997, I was in working in sales with a pager and no cell phone. And I was a dreamer.

I had to see customers in person and usually on the same day weekly to make sure they placed their order with me.

My biggest competition in Houston, Texas was Sysco foods; they seemed to have an endless amount of products in stock and at prices far below mine.

So, here's what I did; I'd sell products that I knew Sysco didn't have in stock.

Guess what? My margins increased, and within one year I was running a territory and operating on 100% commission.

I call this freedom! No one bothered me, and I started looking for other smarter ways to generate more money.

Later that year, I scraped together some cash and purchased some Rubbermaid broom handles and some wire brushes from an industrial supplier.

I enlisted the help of my father in law, Earl Tuttle, and his brother in law, Gary Garretson, a couple of old tinkerers.

The three of us started making what would later become the Texas Grill Brush. www.texasbrush.com

My idea wasn't revolutionary or a groundbreaking product, but it was something within my reach. So, I acted and just went after it.

Here's the Texas Grill Brush featured in Esquire magazine as one of Made In The USA's top products!

Act on your ideas, and you'll figure things out along the way. I believe this 100%!
