BILL VAUGHAN'S TASTY CLIPS: Stevie Wonder Wants You To Speak Your Vote

While in the throes of an impromptu tour of presidential election swing states, Stevie Wonder has aligned with the #SpeakYourVote movement to issue an invitation to creatives.

The Stevie Wonder #SpeakYourVote #OpenVerseChallenge is an innovative way for artists of all backgrounds and generations to get involved.

Using TikTok’s “Duet” feature and/or the “Remix” feature on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, participants can record their own verse, inspired by Stevie’s call to action. These short, creative clips allow users to express what voting means to them and encourage their followers to engage in the democratic process.

With the legendary influence of Wonder, who is one of the most celebrated and iconic figures in popular music with 25 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award, along with the viral nature of social media, the campaign hopes to inspire millions of young people to get registered, get informed, and get to the polls.

In a time when every vote counts, the #SpeakYourVote movement highlights the power and influence of the nearly 113 million eligible voters from Gen Z and millennials, who together represent almost half of the total voting population.

Their voices are crucial to shaping the nation’s future; however, historically, voter turnout among these groups has been low, and this nonpartisan initiative aims to change that by creating a platform where art meets activism.

Visit www.speakyourvote.com to check your voter registration status, find polling places, and register to vote.

To join Stevie Wonder’s #SpeakYourVote #OpenVerseChallenge, visit the #SpeakYourVote TikTok, Instagram, and/or YouTube page.

END QUOTE: “I’m not the only one to say that this possibly could be the most important presidential election in the history of this country. That’s how dire this is. This is not a joke. It’s not funny. This is like life and death. I gotta give credit to President Obama because he’s been going really hard on the brothers — some might think too hard, but I don’t think so. We gotta wake up and don’t go for the okie doke, the flim-flam — can’t do that.” – SPIKE LEE
