Bilingual or Bicultural

Dear LinkedIn Translators and Interpreters:
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
As a translator, it is a prerequisite to be bilingual. However, it is essential to be bicultural. That means you have to understand both cultures of the source language and the target language.
Knowing about the other culture is your way to convey the message accurately.
Knowing about the other culture and showing respect does not necessarily mean leaving your own.
Idioms are the area where you have to be bicultural. For example, if you want to understand the idiom "all (one's) Christmases have come at once," you must know that Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year.
In Arabic, you can say "???? ?? ???? ?????."
