■ Bilia acquired BMW SCHMITZ from former owner, Cloppenburg Automobile!

The Mersch dealership has officially become part of the Bilia group. The Swedish dealership now operates four points of sale, with two located in the Grand Duchy, and employs over 340 people in the Greater Region. This demonstrates the group's significant commitment to BMW and the Luxembourg market, following its initial entry into the market in 2016.

Bilia and the BMW Group are celebrating a significant milestone in their shared history with the official transfer of the Mersch dealership to the Swedish flag on October 1st. Director Jean-Michel Callut explains, "After our market entry and the construction of a new, spacious, and modern setting in Luxembourg, this marks our continued ambition to be the leading partner for BMW and MINI in the Grand Duchy, along with the Alpina brand. This is a historic step for us, demonstrating the confidence that the BMW Group has in us to develop our collective potential in Luxembourg."

This integration, which has been in preparation for several months, will be carried out gradually until the end of the year. "Of course, we are not going to change everything overnight," reassures Jean-Michel Callut. The employees and regular customers of Garage Schmitz will experience a gradual transition rather than a total break. We are convinced of the importance of Mersch in the Grand Duchy, and we will apply the methods that have made us successful in Luxembourg." The director's objective is to be ready for the Autofestival 2025.

The coming together of car dealers in the capital and the central region results from the aligned interests of the involved parties. Cloppenburg Automobile SE, the former owner of Carlo Schmitz Sàrl, wanted to focus on the German market and sought a buyer. On the other hand, Bilia is keen to establish a strong and lasting presence in Luxembourg. Additionally, BMW Group Belux emphasised the significance of the location and expressed its desire to see its operations continue. Dr. Alexander W. Wehr, CEO of BMW Group Belux, stated, "We are pleased to maintain a strong presence in the heart of Luxembourg with a respected partner like Bilia.
