Bilateral hip abductor weakness in unilateral Gluteal Tendinopathy
Interesting new research looking at isometric hip abductor muscle strength in a supine position with individuals with Gluteal Tendinopathy.
The findings concluded "people with unilateral GT demonstrate significant weakness of the hip abductor muscles bilaterally when compared with healthy controls."
What is interesting is to consider whether there is a central control weakening neuromuscular strength in response to the Gluteal Tendinopathy or whether a bilateral weakness is a primary cause of the pathology.
While we would like to see a more authentic examination of individuals in upright function we do believe that strength can be an important factor in the strategic management of Tendinopathy.
