Bike Tour in Berlin

During summer time there are lots of events in Berlin such as Kultursommer Festival, Zug der Liebe, Hummus festival, Berliner Volksfestsommer and many other events. Due to the large number of attractions and events, it is not possible to visit them all, but one that I recently participated in was a Bike Tour in Berlin. In fact, I have done it through the company -?Free Berlin Tours - Fahrradtouren-Berlin. The company provides guidance for groups on bicycle tours and in addition you can also rent bicycles from this company independently and tour Berlin independently on your?own without a guide.

The company offers three guided tours:

  • Berlin's Best - The Classic Tour - In this tour you visit the main attractions of the city such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall.
  • Vibes Of Berlin - The Alternative Tour - This tour focuses on the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg districts, describes their history including the East Side Gallery area, Landwehrkanal and tells the difference between the two parts of Kreuzberg (Kreuzberg 36 and Kreuzberg 61)
  • Third Reich And The Wall - The History Tour - Describes the rise of the Nazis to power in Germany and explains the historical Berlin of World War II (including Hitler's bunker) and the destruction caused to Germany during one of the darkest periods in history.

I have decided to register for the Vibes Of Berlin - The Alternative Tour (because I already knew the other tours). The company's offices are located at Poststra?e 11 at Nikolaiviertel (a few steps from Rotes Rathaus U Bahn station) and the bike tours also depart from there. When I got to the place I got a bike and I also decided to take a helmet.

The guide was a young local guy in his early 20s who grew up in Berlin. He told us that his father immigrated from Bolivia to Germany but he himself was born and raised in Berlin and in recent years he has been living in Kreuzberg area. Most of the tour participants were tourists but there were also some Germans. During the tour we received an explanation of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg districts and visited well-known places.?

?

No matter how many years a person lives in Berlin there will always be new areas to discover and explore (even if he thinks he knows all the areas and the places) and this is actually the reason why I signed up for the tour, since I wanted to get another perspective on the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg districts and I did).?

?

The guided tour is considered an excellent attraction for families, so in case you have children, they will undoubtedly enjoy it. In addition, if you are a tourist coming to Berlin for a short period of time, this tour will be excellent for you because you can get a lot of information about the city and visit many attractions while riding a bike.?

?

Remember that during summer time, you?can find a wide variety of different events in the city, and in case it is less convenient for you to do a bicycle tour, you can always sign up for the free walking tours berlin. The idea of the free walking tours is that you register online for one of the walking tours in Berlin and in the end you can pay according to your opinion on the quality of the tour you received from the guide (therefore these tours are not really free but totally worth it).?

?

The concept of free walking tours exists in many other main cities in the world and not only in Berlin. In conclusion, remember that Berlin is a city where you can find a wide variety of activities for all ages throughout the year (especially in the summer time). For me, the bike tour was fun and?enjoyable (I felt a bit like a tourist) and it actually made me?step away, zoom out and see Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in a slightly different perspective.
