The Biggest Plot Twist of Growth

One of the biggest 'plot twists' we encounter when we are doing 'the work' (of becoming more self-aware, self-compassionate and emotionally regulated) using such powerful coaching tools as the Enneagram is when we finally get to see that we already have what we are looking for.

?

That's when can finally feel free and safe enough to start experimenting with, and 'stretching into' really grounding ourselves in this new realization, involving all 3 of our 'Centers of Intelligence', i.e. our body, heart, and head.

?

In terms of the 9 Types this is the point when

?

Type 8s realize that they are already strong and (more than alive), so there is no need to 'power up' to look scarier, bigger, or more intimidating.

?

Type 9s realize that they are already very peaceful, all-embracing and naturally inclusive, so they don't need to 'manufacture' any more peace (by e.g. falling asleep to their own needs) than it is still 'healthy' for both them and their environment.

?

Type 1s realize that they are already 'perfect' as they are, even if they make the occasional, 'organic' mistake, as these will just add to how perfectly life unfolds. They understand the diminishing returns of their perfectionism both for them and others around them.

?

Types 2s realize that they are already worthy of love exactly because they are already so loving, sweet and nurturing, even if they don't 'artificially' (=coming more from ego) give give give, accidentally overstepping people's boundaries and creating covert contracts.

?

Type 3s realize that they are already inherently valuable (partly because they are so capable of recognizing and cultivating value in themselves and others), even if they don't constantly work extremely hard to achieve/maintain it.

?

Type 4s realize that they are unique and special simply for who they are (simply for being alive), and that life is already beautiful and mysteriously authentic enough even if we don't insist on constantly putting a special spin on things.

?

Type 5s realize that they are already more knowledgeable than most, so they don't need to always investigate and collect 'all' the information available before deciding to take action –an increasingly problematic ego strategy as free information increases in the world too...

?

Type 6s realize that they are already cautious enough, so they don't need to always go the extra mile and extensively 'scenario build' way ahead into the future (by further frightening themselves and others, envisioning only the worst that can happen).

?

Type 7s realize that there is enough freedom, joy, positivity and possibility 'right here right now', so there is no need to fantasize about alternative realities and 'greener pastures' elsewhere...

?

The best children's tales are layered to make them interesting and meaningful both for kids and adults. In the Wizard of Oz, one of my favorite tales for example

?

Dorothy was already 'home' ('present', here and now)

the scarecrow already had a brain (Head Center)

the tin man already had a heart (Heart Center)

the cowardly lion already had guts (Body Center).
