The Biggest Mistake we make is... Underestimating Our Value.
As women, we often fall into the trap of taking whatever is offered – not only in the workplace but in life, too. We bring so much to the table without fully honoring our worth. So when it’s time to show up? or ask what we want. we waver… or worse we assume they’ll look out for us.
?We assume all relevant factors were properly taken into consideration and our interest fairly considered.
?We fail to be ready with a substantiated understanding of exactly what we bring to the table in relation to what is required.
?We sometimes belittle our value by thinking “we’re lucky to be there” instead of realizing “they are lucky to have us”.
?We fail to negotiate from a position of power and often take far less than what is equitably deserved.
To make moves in our BEST interest, we need to know who we are, know our marketplace value and be keenly aware of our needs so they are exceeded.
?We must ask for, and even require, what WE NEED to be successful in the workplace rather than just comfortable.
?We must know our worth and confidently believe in our abilities to ensure we are rightfully honored.
Most of us have been conditioned by life, people, and circumstances to go it alone, totally forsaking the power and beauty of relationships. It’s funny though, because we are typically quick to sign up for a class or even go back to school, but we fail to intentionally invest in meaningful relationships that will accelerate our success.
