Selling on Amazon can be a stressful undertaking. It’s a tedious process to learn, especially if you don’t have an e-commerce background. Mistakes are inevitable – but that’s okay! Just be sure to learn from them. Here are a couple common mistakes we’ve seen through the lens of an Amazon marketing agency, as well as our in-house tips on how to avoid them.
1. Not highlighting the key features enough.
Sometimes sellers oversimplify their product descriptions at the cost of drawing attention to their key features. While unnecessarily long descriptions are indeed a chore to read, it’s nevertheless important to take advantage of extra text real estate to incorporate your keywords naturally. Maximize this space by emphasizing the product’s selling points to avoid having weak or out-of-focus content.
2. The product title is too long.
Many sellers make their product titles as specific as possible. Although it’s important to be detailed about your product, stuffing your title with keywords and cramming in all the features is not the way to go. Amazon recommends a title length of fewer than 80 characters, so just focus on incorporating your brand name and only the high-ranking keywords you want to rank for in your product title. Leave the rest of the important details about your product in the description.
Your Amazon success can be achieved through efforts, planning, and attention to detail. Get in touch with us if you need more help with listing optimization!
