When it comes to fashion, where do we stand? With the Lakme Fashion Week’s event in partnership with the FDCI, many fashion designers and stylists have showcased their talents, making the event a big hit. This event not only caught the attention of millions of fans but has also paved the way for another billion who are dreaming about the stage, NEXT! And that’s where we are!

While fashion is already in the air for Milan, New York and Paris, it has now taken over India's capital, Delhi. The recent season’s conclusive fashion event that lasted for five days highlighted India’s most celebrated fashion trend of 2023, and that, too, keeping it all sustainable. And yes, this event finally gave us what we were looking forward to; true colour, patterns and embellished vibe for the season!

The LFW collection found its foundation in meticulous craftsmanship, harmonising clean pleats, block printing, and masterful hand embroidery to achieve a delicate equilibrium between fabric manipulation and intricate beaded workmanship. Each ensemble radiated a spirited atmosphere, defined by graceful, flowing silhouettes that were complemented with a touch of refined accessorising.

The primary choice of fabric predominantly featured sustainable materials such as Khadi, Chanderi, and Handwoven Cotton/Silk (sourced from Bengal) and so on, embodying a commitment to eco-conscious fashion. What’s not to adore!

So, before we date back to the same boring summer look, LFW created fresh air with the top 5 trends that were seen dominating on the Lakme Fashion X FDCI Runway 2023!

1. What’s So Bold? Colour Blocks and Solids!

The runway ignited with a riotous explosion of colours, a vivid tribute to the pulsating dynamism of Indian fashion. Bold designers wielded audacious shades, from fierce orange to electric blues and suddenly some sober white, crafting a visual extravaganza that left a lasting impression. Men’s fashion dominated the celebration with all so-solid Soft White, Pure Peach and Blazing Black ethnic wear exhibiting a refined and sophisticated tailored finish! Are we missing anything here? Ofcourse, the vibrance grooms' turbans that concealed the heads neatly!

2. Glitters for Glamours!

With the elegance for the perfect Glitz Glam, the LFW season was all about Go BOLD or Go HOME! From the quirky co-ord set (which ofcourse is a dominating trend on social media!) to Shimmery Lehengas and Embellished Gowns, there was nothing that didn't ensure your eyes were fixed on the stage! Sometimes, a subtle detail from the African Desert to the vibrant lure of Piroi, nothing felt less of an inspiration. Renowned designers, including Falguni and Shane Peacock, Amit Aggarwal, and Pankaj and Nidhi, were set to unveil their exquisite collections, adding an extra layer of prestige to the event.

3. Floral Blooms

Do you also have a soft spot for floral just like me? Well, that’s ‘Us Moment’! At this year's Lakmé Fashion Week, floral prints once again stole the spotlight, showcasing their enduring appeal. Ranging from dainty, intricate patterns to striking, larger-than-life blossoms, the runway offered a diverse array of floral designs to suit every taste. Whether gracing the bridal opulence of Anju Modi's creations or adorning the easy elegance of Guapa's resort wear collection, floral motifs and embroidery emerged as ubiquitous elements; Skillfully incorporated by talented designers. And just a reminder about the sustainable fashion that took centre stage, floral reflected the growing eco-friendly awareness in the realm of fashion!

4. Fusion Fantasy

Some refined silhouettes left a long-lasting impression and taught us how to blend both traditional elements and contemporary styling perfectly; fusion, this time again, dominated the stage. This captivating amalgamation of traditional and contemporary aesthetics resulted in a unique and striking visual language that resulted in harmonious outfits that are both globally relevant and deeply rooted in cultural heritage. Further, this also highlighted the creativity and adaptability of designers.

5. Sheer is Here!

The last for inspiration was a remarkable delicacy of the sheer fabric that was blended, twisted, and layered to form vibrant styling pieces. Sheer fashion made its mark with designers employing translucent fabrics in an array of creative ways. The trend introduced an element of subtle allure, a tantalising peek beneath the fabric's surface, all while upholding an unmistakable air of sophistication. This delicate play with transparency lent an ethereal quality to the garments, transforming each ensemble into a captivating display of modern elegance.
